Ovary. This low mag. view shows the general organization of the ovary. The small primordial and primary follicles are located peripherally. The larger developing antral follicles are found centrally (but approach the surface as they mature). The largest of these (preovulatory) are also called Graafian follicles. Several atretic follicles can also be seen in the center. The tissue to the right is the mesovarium. |
