Slide 55:
Lobe of an active gland at higher power. The alveoli are lined by a cuboidal epithelium with underlying myoepithelial cells (not identifiable at this mag.). Only a small amount of loose c.t. separates the alveoli from their neighbors within one lobule. While superfically the gland appears similar to the thyroid, the confined, irregular alveoli, less rich vascular supply, dense c.t. septa and ducts are distinguishing features. |
