Web-based Interactive Pediatric Cases
Students rotating on the pediatric clerkship currently have access to 32 interactive, internet-based pediatric virtual patient cases via the website, CLIPP (Computer-Assisted Learning in Pediatrics Program). CLIPP is a comprehensive learning program designed for use by third-year medical students during their pediatric clerkship to supplement traditional clerkship teaching and patient care activities. The program keeps track of your progress and provides an abundance of multimedia information on the patient’s diagnosis and related topics.
To enter the website, go the website http://www.clippcases.org/ and select "Go to Cases." This will bring you to the login page where you can register as a new user. Please enter your NYUSoM email address and remaining fields then accept the site user terms and conditions. You will then be sent your account information by email, return to the website and login.
While you are welcome to go through as many of the cases as you like, we would like you to COMPLETE the following six cases at a minimum, as a REQUIRED part of our clerkship curriculum:
- Case #8 - 6 day old with jaundice - Meghan
- Case #11 - 5 year old with fever and adenopathy - Jason
- Case #17 - 3 year old refusing to walk - Emily
- Case #23 - 11 year old girl with lethargy and fever
- Case #25 - 2 month old with apnea - Jeremy
- Choose ONE of Cases 1 - 6 (Infant/Child/Adolescent Well Child Checks)
Each case should take about 45 minutes to go through. You will receive receive feedback on your progress throughout the case. At present, your performance on these cases WILL NOT be counted as part of your final grade.
We are confident these cases will be a great supplement to your learning and will be a fun way to expand the breadth of your knowledge as well as develop your clinical reasoning skills. Again, the 6 cases listed above are considered a required part of the clerkship.
