Patient III suffers from a deficiency of the enzyme Hypoxanthine Guanine PhosphoRibosyl Transferase (HGPRT) and has Lesch-Nyhan Syndrome.

Partial loss of HGPRT activity results in gout, complete or almost complete loss of HGPRT activity results in the Lesch-Nyhan Syndrom (LNS).
